Malaysian designer, Eunice Teo Khee Choo, AIFD conducted a 1-day seminar-workshop, entitled “A Fantasy of Flowers” at the Legend Villas, Madaluyong City last September 19, 2006. The seminar was organized by Jasam Floral Sundries with the help of Smither-Oasis Malaysia , as the major sponsor along with the other sponsors such as Florists' Review, Design Master, Puentespina Orchids and Tropical Plants, Agrikultura Pilipina, Philippine Cut Flower, King Louis Flowers & Plants, Uni-green, Nene's Flower shop and 1029 Floral Supplies.
The topics in the seminar were the latest trends and techniques in bridal arrangements, events and funeral arrangements. Eunice had a slide show presentation on the latest trends in themed weddings. Her 15 sensational arrangements showcased the latest trends and techniques in flower design. The arrangements showed the use of remarkable color schemes and a variety of styles and products, including bouquets and vase work, arrangements in foam, etc.
Carnations, roses, star gazers, million stars, sunflowers, chrysanthemums, alstromeria, dendrobiums, etc. were in abundance and accentuated with the use of other blooms, interesting foliages and featured materials and accessories. Color and texture were obvious elements in most of the designs especially with the use of colored foam in different colors, forms, shapes and sizes.
Over 70 participants attended the one-day demonstration, where in 50 participants registered in the hands-on workshop. During the workshop, the participants made a centerpiece arrangement, a bridal bouquet and a corsage under the close supervision of Eunice. The highlight of the hands-on workshop was the interesting technique of making a “rose peony”.
Eunice's demonstration was well received, gaining a lot of positive feedback. Participants were impressed with the designs and techniques shown in the seminar. Influences from the demonstration will surely be appearing in shops, weddings and events in Manila very soon. |
